29. Feb Johan Sverdrup contract to MSS
Aibel has awarded contract to MSS
The scope of supply includes phenolic composite grating, pipe penetration sleeves and fasteners to the Johan Sverdrup drilling platform, where Statoil is the operator. The deliveries will start this summer and the main scope will be delivered during 2016.
The use of phenolic composite grating provides many advantages and savings versus other materials such as steel and aluminum. Composite grating is virtually maintenance free and has higher strength than steel. Weight savings from similar products in steel is approximately 60-70%, in addition it is considerably easier to both handle and install on the platform. It can be lifted and placed without the need for lifting equipment and it can be cut using normal hand tools, says Sales & Marketing Director of MSS Kjetil Jacobsen.
MSS has over the past years expanded its product range to include handrails and small access platforms made of the same fire retardant materials. The potential for further weight savings and reduced maintenance costs are even greater in terms of future developments on the Norwegian Continental shelf, adds Jacobsen.
