We are thrilled to announce that Module Solutions & Systems (MSS) had the privilege of visiting Singapore to present our cutting-edge FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) products to Equinor and Modec personnel involved in the BM-C-33 project. This visit aimed to enhance their knowledge of FRP products and highlight the numerous advantages they offer to the project.
For those unfamiliar with the BM-C-33 project, Equinor, along with partners Repsol, Sinopec, and Petrobras, approved the development concept in March 2021. The project involves processing both gas and oil/condensate at the FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) facility, adhering to sales specifications. With a production capacity of 16 million cubic meters of gas per day and expected average exports of 14 million cubic meters per day, the FPSO is set to commence operations in 2028.
During our visit, we had the pleasure of engaging with Modec, a prominent player in the industry. Modec recently signed a Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Equinor Brasil Energia Ltd, a subsidiary of Equinor ASA, to provide an FPSO vessel for the Pao de Acucar, Seat & Gavea field cluster in the BM-C-33 block of the Campos Basin offshore Brazil. This FPSO represents a remarkable milestone for Modec, as it is one of the most complex facilities in their history, focusing on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and efficiently handling large volumes of exported gas.
The SPA encompasses a two-phase lump sum turnkey contract, covering both Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) for the entire FPSO. Equinor and its partners announced the Final Investment Decision (FID) on May 8, 2023, following the completion of the FEED, which commenced in April 2022. As a result, Modec has been awarded phase 2 of the contract for EPCI of the FPSO. Additionally, Modec will provide Equinor with operations and maintenance services for the FPSO during its first year of oil production, after which Equinor plans to assume operational responsibilities.
At MSS, we are proud to have contributed to the BM-C-33 project by sharing our expertise in FRP products. Our discussions and presentations focused on the unique benefits FRP offers, such as its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and durability, making it an ideal choice for offshore applications. We firmly believe that the integration of FRP products will greatly enhance the overall performance and longevity of the project, aligning perfectly with Equinor’s commitment to sustainability and Modec’s focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Equinor and Modec for the warm welcome we received during our visit. We are excited about the future prospects of the BM-C-33 project and look forward to the opportunity of further collaboration. Together, we can drive innovation and deliver outstanding results that positively impact the oil and gas industry.
